A Poem for Savannah
Daddy’s little girl
My child is loved,
My life hasn’t been all that I’ve wanted but my child is loved,
As she grows she knows,
As she feels I heal
My child loves her father,
My father wasn’t there like I needed him to be but my child loves her father,
As she grows she knows,
As she dreams I beam
My child is everything I’ve ever hoped for,
My child is loved, cared for, adored,
As she breathes she sees,
As she feels I heal
My child is loved,
My life hasn’t been all that I’ve wanted but my child is loved,
As she grows she knows,
As she feels I heal
My child loves her father,
My father wasn’t there like I needed him to be but my child loves her father,
As she grows she knows,
As she dreams I beam
My child is everything I’ve ever hoped for,
My child is loved, cared for, adored,
As she breathes she sees,
As she feels I heal

A Grand Adventure
Don't back away from life just because it gets difficult. Instead, jump into it more fully.
Don't slow down just because the road upward becomes steep. Speed up and get that extra momentum to carry you forward.
There's no good reason to let the challenges get you down. Choose instead to be energized and motivated by them.
Life is a grand adventure. You wouldn't want it to come too easily.
You have all sorts of wonderful skills and abilities. Relish the opportunities to put them to the test and to make them even stronger.
Live with passion and purpose and the resolve to handle whatever may come your way. Never stop discovering how much more you're able to do.
-- Ralph Marston

The Future
Today is Election Day.
The opportunity to set our country on a new path has never felt more real than it does right now.
The polls are open in most places, and people are already making their voices heard for change.
There's just one thing left to do -- vote and make sure everyone you know votes, too.
You can find or verify your polling location by looking up your most recent registration address at VoteForChange.com.
Go vote today, and make sure you take your friends and family with you.
This is the day when we have to commit to doing everything we can. We can't afford not to -- for our families, our communities, and our future.
Once you vote, you can do more than just wait as the returns come in.
You can help get every last vote for Barack by volunteering in your community or making calls from home. Help put us over the top today:

It's not too late to knock on doors, make calls, and make sure that every one of our supporters gets to the polls today.
Change is within our reach. We're counting on you to get us there today.
Thank you for everything you're doing,
Michelle Obama

Let your enthusiasm show
Enthusiasm costs you absolutely nothing and requires no special skills. It is yours the moment you choose to embrace it.
When you do, your world changes. The problems turn into opportunities and the challenges become fields upon which you can create new value. Enthusiasm infuses you with a heightened sense of purpose. Enthusiasm provides you with a beneficial immunity against any setbacks that may come. Enthusiasm is contagious and it draws other people to you. Because when you're wrapped up in enthusiasm, it feels great. Somewhere inside you there is an authentic sense of enthusiasm, eager to come to life. Let it out and let it show. Allow enthusiasm to infect your attitude, and spread it to those around you. Delight in the feeling as it pushes you forward.

VA Beach Week: Baby Love
Well, that was probably the shortest weekend I've ever experienced, but it was well worth it. The whole Peterson clan (and then some) showed up, and a good time was had by all. I'm dedicating today's post to the future generation. Pictured above are Adam & Noelle, Tre & Dallas, and Cindy's new baby girl!

The Griot
The past few weeks have been difficult for Andrea and I as we've had to cope with the unexpected passing of her father, Mr. Arthur Ferguson. He was a man of many talents, but he'll most likely be remembered for his passion of family history. I spoke to him briefly a week before he died and he was still full of excitement over the pending arrival of his next grandchild. I know his spirit continues to watch over Andrea and our family, and he will never be forgotten.

Pop's 80th Birthday: New York Edition
Dawn's Daily Motivator
Always something
There is always something positive that you can do. On the best of days, or in the most challenging of circumstances, you can choose to move forward.
Conditions are not as bad as they seem, nor are conditions as good as they appear. Conditions are whatever you choose to make of them.
It's up to you to take the energy of this day and give it a specific direction. Though circumstances are constantly changing, you can always choose to move in the direction of your dreams.
Of course there are complications, challenges and obstacles. And you can use them all to create your own path forward.
You are in control of your thoughts and actions. That's a powerful place from which to operate, no matter what the outside circumstances may be.
There is always something positive, productive, enriching and fulfilling that you can do. Get up, get going, and make a difference in your own special way.
